Brutus Clay

Brutus J. Clay III has over 20 years of experience launching and managing nearly a dozen different

businesses and nonprofits. The endeavors were involved in a multitude of industries ranging from solar businesses, sustainable timberland investments, casual dining restaurants, mineral rights, real property management, commercial real estate development, thoroughbred breeding nursery, and non-profits. The enterprises are diverse with one commonality, having a positive impact.

For the last decade, Brutus has focused on renewable energy and economic development opportunities in eastern Kentucky to help the region transition away from coal. Championed initiative to develop solar farms on reclaimed coal mines in eastern Kentucky. Kentucky River Properties now has over 800MW in the PJM queue. Led a group to invest in a utility-scale solar developer JCD Solar Consulting, now with over 150 MW in the pipeline and a solar EPC company focused on commercial and industrial users, Eagle Solar and Light, LLC. Worked in business development capacity for a sustainable forest company, The Forestland Group, LLC, with over 2 million acres under management, one of the largest private landowners of hardwood timberland in the US. Co-founded two non-profit enterprises: The Learning Center at the Lexington School, a school within a school that teaches children with learning differences, and Horse Country, a central marketing and booking agency to book tours of local horse farms.

Brutus has an M.B.A from UNC, Kenan-Flagler Business School, and a B.S. in Business Administration from Georgetown University.
