Sunflower Fuels
Sunflower Fuels’ mission is to harness the untapped potential of people and land in rural areas to grow energy crops that will extract carbon from the air and power the US economy.
The long term vision of the company is for vibrant coal and rural communities powering the circular economy.
Sunflower Fuels is a developer. Through an extensive global network of end users/offtakers, processors, government facilitators, and experts, Sunflower is introducing Miscanthus production and distribution in the Kentucky, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio and West Virginia region as a sustainable energy crop. Initial uses for Miscanthus while larger markets develop will include renewable food packaging, horse and poultry bedding. These larger markets include pellets for heating and electrical power, BioEnergy Carbon Capture and Storage (BECCS) fuel, biodiesel, and sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). These larger markets will experience a significant uptick in size in the very near future as there is insufficient supply to meet the growing global demand for bio-efficient feedstock for power generation. This is a developing problem without an evident solution in play, which is the opportunity that Sunflower Fuels is addressing.
